‘SNL’ mocks dueling town halls with Mister Rogers, ‘WrestleMania’
“Saturday Night Live” showcased the extreme differences in the President Trump and Joe Biden town halls by including Mister Rogers and “WrestleMania.”
Adele is returning to the world of “Saturday Night Live,” but, no, the 15-time Grammy Award winner isn’t the musical guest.
“SNL” announced Sunday that the notoriously private singer, 32, would host its Oct. 24 episode, joined by musical guest H.E.R. Though Adele supposedly isn’t singing, this seems to be her first performance – musical or otherwise – and first major appearance in the world of entertainment since 2017, when she performed at the Grammy Awards before a summer world tour.
“Bloooooody hellllll I’m so excited about this!!” Adele wrote on Instagram. “And also absolutely terrified! My first ever hosting gig and for SNL of all things!!!! I’ve always wanted to do it as a stand alone moment, so that I could roll up my sleeves and fully throw myself into it, but the time has never been right. But if there was ever a time for any of us to jump head first into the deep end with our eyes closed and hope for the best it’s 2020 right?”
The singer noted that the episode’s date almost exactly hits the 12-year anniversary of her first “SNL” appearance (also during an election year), which she credited with helping to “break my career in America.”
“It feels full circle and I just couldn’t possibly say no!” she added. “I am besides myself that H.E.R will be the musical guest!! I love her SO much I can’t wait to melt into a flaming hot mess when she performs. … See you next week.” She added heart and fingers crossed emoji.
She last performed on “SNL” in 2015, alongside host Matthew McConaughey.
Opinion: Can we please stop talking about Adele and Rebel Wilson’s weight loss?
Adele’s last album, “25,” was released in 2015. Though fans continue to fill the comments sections of her social media posts asking about her future music plans, she doesn’t have any updates to share yet.
“I honestly have no idea,” Adele responded to one fan who asked in August when a new album might be coming.
Last year on her birthday, Adele talked about her evolution on Instagram, revealing that she’s “changed drastically in the last couple years and I’m still changing.”
The singer and her entrepreneur/philanthropist husband Simon Konecki announced their split in April 2019. They share 7-year-old son Angelo.
Following her breakup, the singer committed to spending the year “all on myself.” She added, “For the first time in a decade I’m ready to feel the world around me and look up for once. … Learning to REALLY truly love yourself is it, and I’ve only just realized that that is more than enough.”
